Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Workshop/Consultations was held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on February 24-25, 2005 entitled “Capacity Building in Africa: Effective States and Engaged Societies”.  The World Bank co-hosted the two-day workshop with the UNECA and the AfDB. The objective of the workshop was to seek substantive contributions from African institutions such as UNECA, AfDB, ACBF, AU and NEPAD; regional economic communities such as SADC, ECOWAS, and COMESA; regional African research networks, universities and training institutions such as AERC, MEFMI, GIMPA and ESAMI; and stakeholders and capacity development practitioners from selected countries.
