Local Governments Showcase Governance Schemes

A pilot project in Guinea, Rwanda and Burkina Faso is awarding local governments for innovations in Governance initiatives.

 

As of March 2007, the World Bank had approved 88 credits and grants for Burkina Faso for a total amount of approximately US$1.84 billion. Also as of this date, there were 17 active operations in Burkina Faso with a commitment value of approximately $550 million. Active operations are in the following areas:

  
  • Education
  • Environment and Natural Resource Management
  • Urban and rural development
  • Health
  • Transportation
  • Agriculture.
