Overview

The Central African Republic joined the World Bank in 1963. Since then, World Bank support has focused on helping the country reduce poverty and achieve sustainable economic growth on 30 projects. Projects have impacted many sectors, from health to public administration to agriculture, as shown in the list below: 

   
 Multisectoral HIV/AIDS Project: a US$17 million project with the 
objectives to contribute to reducing HIV/AIDS prevalence and mitigate the impact of HIV/AIDS on persons infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.  Read more...
  
Policy Support Project (closed): a US$8 million project that aims at helping the government implement its reform program, particularly the privatization program; articulate its poverty reduction strategy (PRS); start rebuilding its statistical infrastructure; strengthen the management of the promising mining sector; and further strengthen the technical committee in charge of the reform program. Read more...
   
  Fiscal Consolidation Credit Project (closed)a US$20 million project that aimed at fiscal consolidation to help the state carry out its basic functions in a still fragile post-conflict context, with an immediate objective of timely payment of wages to government employees and the military.  Read more...
   
  Livestock Development and Rangeland Management Project (closed): a US$16.6 million project with the objective to raise livestock productivity, alleviate poverty among herders, strengthen the livestock sector's professional organizations, and ensure the sustainable management of natural resources.  Read more...
