Chad joined the World Bank in 1963. Since then, World Bank assistance on over 50 projects has helped the country work towards achieving sustainable economic growth while reducing poverty.  Some of the most recent projects include:

	Chad-Cameroon Petroleum Development and Pipeline Project:  a US$39.5 million equivalent project that aims to increase Chad's expenditures on poverty alleviation activities through environmentally and socially sound private investment in the petroleum sector. In addition, its objectives are to increase Cameroon's fiscal revenues available for financing priority development expenditures in the context of the government's strategy for economic growth and poverty reduction. 	Second Population and AIDS Project:  a US$24.56 million equivalent operation.  It seeks to change the behavior of the Chadian populations so they will adopt behaviors which will reduce the risk of infection from the HIV and risk of too closely spaced and/or unwanted pregnancies. Read more...
