| WASHINGTON, February 26, 2004—The following project was approved yesterday by the World Bank’s Board:
CREDIT AMOUNT: US$200 Million
TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective of the project is to support the Democratic Republic of Congo with its economic and social recovery program. The Post-Reunification Economic Recovery credit will facilitate the implementation of urgent reforms in critical areas including initiating a civil service reform. It will help the government deal with the country’s debt situation by making resources available to support the government’s settlement of domestic arrears and payment to its utility suppliers.
