Democratic Republic of Congo: Emergency Multisector Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Project

WASHINGTON, December 8, 2005- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IDA GRANT: US$ 125 million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The main objective of this project is to assist the country to start rebuilding agricultural production and enhance food security, and reconstruct and rehabilitate critical infrastructure. The project seeks to restore essential social services and build community infrastructure and strengthen government capacity to implement and manage medium and long-term development programs.
