Bank Strengthens Safe Haven for Victims of Sexual Violence

Child victims of DR Congo’s armed conflict are receiving care and support through a World Bank-supported rehabilitation center and home in North Kivu.

 

The World Bank is helping to fight poverty and improve living standards for the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo. As of June 2009, the World Bank had 18 active projects in the DRC for a total amount of approximately US$2.9 billion. Ongoing operations will impact the following sectors:

  
  • Education
  • Energy
  • Governance
  • Health and other social services
  • Private sector development
  • Transportation
  • Water, sanitation and flood protection
