Abidján-Lagos Regional project for Nigeria, Benin, Cote de Ivorie, Ghana, Togo The project's objective is to increase access along the Abidjan-Lagos transport corridor, to HIV/AIDS prevention, basic treatment, support and care services by underserved vulnerable groups. Particular attention is to be given to the transport sector workers, the migrant population, commercial sex workers and the local populations living along the corridor, especially at the border towns.
ARCAN Regional Capacity Building network for HIV/AIDS prevention Care and Treatments for United Republic of Tanzania, Ethiopia and Kenya The development objective of the African Regional Capacity Building Network for HIV/AIDS Prevention, Treatment and Care Project, is to expand access to comprehensive, health care delivery, for HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment programs, supporting a network of sub-regional "learning sites", seeking to expand training of health care practitioners.
TAP(TAP Website - ww.uneca.org/tap/) Regional HIV/AIDS Treatment Acceleration Project with Ghana, Burkina Faso, and Mozambique The primary goal of the Treatment Acceleration Program (TAP) is to pilot strategies for strengthening each country's capacity to scale up comprehensive programs providing care and treatment, which is effective, affordable, and equitable. It will pilot treatment systems which ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and their immediate families benefit from care and treatment.
GLIA The Great Lakes Initiative on HIV/AIDS Support Project for $20 million was approved in March 2005 to add value to national efforts, and support interventions for mobile groups including refugees, internally displaced people and returnees. It provided seed capital for the formation of a regional institution, wholly owned by its member States. It involves UNHCR as an implementing partner as well as UNAIDS.
