The Results Monitoring System (RMS-E) bolsters the World Bank’s results agenda and ensures outcomes are being monitored, captured and shared in a systematic and comprehensive fashion. The system’s objective is to distill lessons on development initiatives and to help direct future initiatives. It tracks progress of the World Bank’s Africa Action Plan (AAP) , the Millennium Development Goals and the International Development Association (IDA) .
The RMS-E stories provide a short and concise overview of World Bank education projects with a particular focus on results achieved and evaluations performed.
The RMS-E also synthesizes information from the Africa Impact Evaluation Initiative that measures a project’s impact on beneficiaries. By providing robust evidence on which projects have positive impact on important outcomes such as household income, educational attainment, child mortality, maternal health or employment, impact evaluations help program managers decide how best to contribute to meeting the Millennium Development Goals, and the targets under the Africa Action Plan . An overview of the Africa education interventions with an impact evaluation can be accessed here .
The Results Monitoring Database on Education provides project and financing data on education and draws country data from a number of sources, in particular from national accounts and administrative and survey sources. It displays comprehensive information on results achieved in primary, secondary and tertiary education in Sub-Saharan Africa. Specific data sets include development outcomes, intermediate results, outputs and financing of education projects. The baseline year is 2004.
