Third SEIA Regional Conference on Secondary Education and Training in Africa

The Third SEIA Regional Conference was hosted by the Ghana Ministry of Education in Accra, Ghana, April 1 – 4, 2007.

The overall goal of the conference was to disseminate the key messages from the SEIA Synthesis Report and to discuss the country strategies for Secondary Education and training.

The specific objectives of the 3rd SEIA Regional Conference were to:

  • discuss with SSA policymakers issues and recommendations relating to the SEIA Synthesis Report;
  • reach consensus with major stakeholders on practical strategic solutions for a sustainable expansion of post-primary education and training in SSA countries in view of economic growth targets;
  • improve harmonization of donor capacity building for SEIA quality and relevance in view of (a) the renewed focus on Secondary Education and Training; and (b) the effects of Education for All - Fast-Track Initiative (EFA-FTI).

The Third Regional SEIA Conference was organized jointly with the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and the World Bank Intitute (WBI)

Financing for the Third Regional SEIA Conference was provided by the Norwegian Post-Primary Education Trust Fund.
