SSATP Annual Meeting 2007

Ouagadougou, Burkina FasoThe 2007 Annual Meeting of the SSATP will take place in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, on November 5-7, 2007.

Under the main theme of "Fostering Sound Policies and Strategies contributing to Africa's integration, economic growth and poverty reduction", the meeting will feature launch of DP-2, the Second Development Plan for SSATP, and discussions of priority actions for 2008.

Annual Meeting 2007 in Burkina FasoThe meeting will have thematic sessions, in which key stakeholders will agree on issues under each deliverable and define priority actions for 2008. A high-level panel will be convened to discuss to address chronic problems to transit traffic serving landlocked countries. There will also a dedicated session to brainstorm on better participation of the private sector in Africa's transport development. The meeting will also have a knowledge sharing sessions dealing with current researches/studies.

Participation is open to self-sponsored delegates. SSATP will support such participants in booking hotels at a preferential rate and providing transport from hotel to conference center.

The SSATP will finance the participation of 2 specialists (on the average) from each member country, and one person from each REC and corridor management institution. The SSATP will send invitations to transport practitioners and policy makers in the 35 member countries, RECs and donors. Invitations will also be extended to prominent regional and international transport affiliated institutions. In total, some 200 participants are expected to attend the 2007 Annual Meeting.
