Objectives

The objectives of the IK for Development Program are to help the development community to learn more about the indigenous/traditional practices in local communities so as to better adapt global knowledge to local conditions, and to design activities to better serve the community needs. In addition, the IK Program:

Blue arrow Develops pilot instruments for the capture, dissemination, and application of indigenous knowledge of development practices.

Facilitates learning among community-based development practitioners through South-to-South exchanges that share indigenous practices and innovations among local communities.

Blue arrowPromotes the fusion of traditional and modern knowledge to achieve better results in development programs.
Blue arrow 

Brokers partnerships between local practitioners, community-based organizations, governments, donors and the global scientific community and other international organizations.
