Objectives

The objectives of the IK for Development Program are to help the development community to learn more about the indigenous/traditional practices in local communities so as to better adapt global knowledge to local conditions, and to design activities to better serve the community needs. In addition, the IK Program:

Â	Develops pilot instruments for the capture, dissemination, and application of indigenous knowledge of development practices.
Â	Facilitates learning among community-based development practitioners through South-to-South exchanges that share indigenous practices and innovations among local communities.
	Promotes the fusion of traditional and modern knowledge to achieve better results in development programs.
Â	Brokers partnerships between local practitioners, community-based organizations, governments, donors and the global scientific community and other international organizations.
