1st Knowledge and Learning Exchange, East Africa - South Asia Sri Lanka & India, September 16 - October 2, 2002 A team of Bank staff and clients participated in a study tour of Sri Lanka and India to develop cross regional partnerships to integrate indigenous knowledge & practices into East African Projects through knowledge sharing and learning exchanges. As part of the cross-country exchanges and knowledge sharing activities between South Asia and East Africa, a team of project officers from three East African Countries – Ethiopia (Medicinal Plants), Kenya (Early Childhood Development)and Uganda (Nutrition and Early Childhood Development) were part of the tour. They visited various government projects and institutions. The purpose of this mission was to enable the East African officials to learn how South Asian projects have worked with communities and have integrated indigenous knowledge into development programs. 2nd Knowledge and Learning Exchange, East Africa - South Asia Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India, June 14th - 30, 2004
A team of Bank staff and clients participated in a study tour of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India to develop cross regional partnerships to integrate indigenous knowledge & practices into East African projects, through knowledge sharing and a learning exchange. As part of this cross-country exchange between South Asia and East Africa, a team of project officers from three East African Countries – 8 practioners from Ethiopia Womens Development Initiatives Project (WDIP), 3 practioners from Malawi, Malawi Social Action Fund (MASAF), and 3 from the Tanzania Social Action Fund (TASAF) participated in the tour. They visited various government projects and institutions in South Asia (India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh) .
This second exchange focused on learning from indigenous practices and builds on the lessons of earlier experiences in South-South Exchange.
