The objective of the Belgian Poverty Reduction Partnership (BPRP) is to conduct analytical and capacity building work in order to support countries in their efforts to prepare and implement Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSPs). More than 80% of the funds are allocated to six partner countries: Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Niger, Mozambique, and Rwanda. Some funding is also provided for work on Burkina Faso (which was previously part of the partner countries) and to sub-regional activities. A description of the main activities carried in each of the partner countries and at the sub-regional level in Fiscal Years 2005 and 2006 is provided below.
