Joint Multi-Purpose Program

ENSAP seeks to develop the water resources of the Eastern Nile Basin in a sustainable and equitable way to ensure prosperity, security and peace for all its peoples.

Joint development and management of the Eastern Nile water resources could serve as a catalyst for greater regional integration with benefits that far exceed those derived from the river itself.

ENSAP's long-term objectives are to:

bullet Ensure that water resources are used equitably by the three countries and that they are managed in a sustainable and efficient manner;
bullet Promote cooperation and joint action between the Eastern Nile countries seeking win-win goals; and
bulletReduce poverty and promote economic integration.

ENSAP is managed by the Eastern Nile Technical Regional Office (ENTRO) based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and is supported by the NBI’s Shared Vision Program. For more information about related projects, refer to  ENSAP Investment Projects or visit the website at www.nilebasin.org/entro.
