Stakeholders Consultations' Meeting, October 2007
A Stakeholders Consultations' Meeting on the World Bank's Regional Integration Assistance Strategy was held on October 20, 2007 in Washington, DC. The meeting was structured around the three overriding issues:

a discussion of main challenges to accelerate regional integration;

how to facilitate the necessary connections between regional planning and development projects; and
-
the role of donors, with a focus on how the World Bank would be involved in the process.
Some 285 participants accepted the World Bank’s invitations to attend the meeting, including more than 30 African Ministers, Ambassadors, Leaders of most Regional Economic Communities (ECOWAS, UEMOA, SADC, COMESA, EAC, and CEEAC) together with AU and NEPAD, senior government officials, civil society organizations and representatives of the World Bank’s development partners such as the ADB, EC, DfID, France, and CIDA.
