Overview

Gabon joined the World Bank in 1963. Since then, World Bank assistance on 22 projects has helped the country work toward achieving economic growth and poverty reduction. As of October 2009, there were three active projects with a commitment value of approximately US$50 million. These include: 

  • Local Infrastructure Development Project â€“ A US$25 million project which seeks to increase access of the population living in low-income settlements to basic services; and sustain access of small and medium-sized enterprises to civil works and construction contracts with the public sector. Read more...
  • Natural Resources Management Development Policy Loan – A US$15 million loan which aims to improve the efficiency of natural resources management in Gabon, to increase its impact on poverty alleviation, to protect the environment, and to reduce the country's dependence on declining oil resources. Read more...
