Mali is a vast landlocked country with a relatively limited natural resource and human capital base and a highly dispersed population. In 1963, Mali became a member of the World Bank and the International Development Association (IDA). The World Bank portfolio supports the energy, rural development, and transport sectors and provides the government budget support.
