Overview

Mali joined the World Bank in 1963. Since then, World Bank assistance on 80 IDA-financed projects has helped the country work towards achieving improved governance, promoting economic growth and reducing poverty.  As of March 2007, 13 active projects with a commitment value of approximately US$542.3 million include:

Transport Corridors Improvement Project: a US$48.7 million project with the objectives to improve alternative corridors from Mali to the ports of Dakar and Abidjan by rail and road respectively; and to sustain accessibility to the Northern region of Mali, one of the poorest regions in the country.  Read more...
          

  Household Energy and Universal Rural Access Project: a US$35.65 million operation which seeks to increase the access of isolated low income populations to basic energy services.  Read more...
