WASHINGTON, March 17, 2005- The following project was approved today by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors:

IDA CREDIT AMOUNT: $39 million

TERMS: Grace period = 10 years; Maturity = 40 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The objective of this project is to increase the value-added of irrigated agriculture and related incomes and employment in the Senegal River valley through the judicious use of the country’s most precious natural assets: water and arable land.
