Maputo- September 18, 2008 - - The World Bank and the Government of Mozambique jointly reviewed the performance of the World Bank funded projects in its annual Country Portfolio Performance Review (CPPR), which gathered high level and technical government officials, including the Minister of Planning and Development, and the World Bank Regional Country Director as well as the institution’s high level technical staff.

The two-day event encompassed plenary and individual project sessions that reviewed a number of indicators, including project results; alignment; coordination and monitoring; fiduciary aspects; procurement processes; and disbursement issues. Overall, the portfolio performance improved over the past year, but there are still areas of improvement as indicated in the "traffic light" monitoring table and other presentations used for the discussions.

"We are very pleased with the improved performance of the World Bank financed projects. Because of that and other factors, Mozambique is eligible to receive more IDA resources this year.” Said Susan Hume, World Bank Country Program Manager.
