The Public Information Center is an open space to the public where to access literature, statistics and reports on development work by the World Bank in Rwanda and beyond. The materials in the collection are published by the World Bank Group, the Government of Rwanda and national institutions, Development partners and Civil Society groups. The PIC is open to everyone : Government officials, private sector, NGOs, faith based organizations, development partners, students, journalists, members of academia, etc. PIC users can easily access a variety of information through the internet, World Bank publications and specific studies as well as through documents that are part of its diverse collection. Services Services at the PIC are: - Online extensive catalogue (E-library) that allows users see the World Bank collection around the world;
- Access to special collection on CDs;
- Free internet access to the World Bank development websites database and other information resources for research purposes;
- Providing guidance on all sources of information to all external and internal audiences;
- Providing access to information through assistive technology for the visually impaired
World Bank project main documents - Project information Documents (PIDs). These are documents that give brief summaries of evolving projects. These are updated and expanded as the project preparation proceeds.
- Project Appraisal Documents (PADs). These contain description of a project and the plan for its implementation, including procurement procedures. These are made available to the public after presentation to the Board.
- Status of Projects in Execution (SOPE). The status of projects in execution provides information on all IBRD/IDA projects. The SOPE is issued every year and is intended to bridge the gap in information available to the Public between the Project Appraisal Document disclosed after the Bank approves a project, and the implementation Completion Report, disclosed after the project closes.
- Economic Sector Reports: These include macroeconomic analysis of Rwanda’s economy, analysis of major economic sectors and other reports on specified issues, such as poverty reduction strategies, etc.
- Environmental Assessments (EAs). EAs are detailed studies required for projects likely to have significant impact on the environment. Such studies are available before the final appraisal of the viability of the project.
- Loan (or Development Credit) Agreements. These are records of loan amounts and terms and conditions the loan is made. It also records the borrower’s general commitment to the project objectives. It is made available to the public after the loan agreement is signed and declared effective or ready to disbursement;
- Bidding and consulting documents. These provide guidelines for borrowers and their implementing agencies in the procurement process.
