The Republic of Seychelles is a remote, small island-state with middle income country characteristics. The size of the economy is small and predominantly service-based. Seychelles joined the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD) in 1980. Completed World Bank projects in Seychelles have focused on environmental and transportation issues.
