Uganda’s Capital Gets US$33.6 Million Boost

IDA CREDIT: US$33.6 million credit

TERMS: Maturity=40 years; Grace period=10 years

PROJECT DESCRIPTION: TheUS$33.6 million IDA credit will support the Government of Uganda through the Kampala Institutional Infrastructure Development Project (KIIDP).  The KIIDP aims to improve the institutional efficiency of Kampala City Council (KCC) through the implementation of the second Strategic Framework for Reform (SFR II) – an in-house strategy developed by KCC to: restructure its administration and management, liberalize service delivery, institute financial and fiscal reform, and improve the organization’s image and public relations.  The 10-year project will run in three phases from 2008 – 2017.
