Zambia Business Reforms Show Improvement

In the latest flagship IFC-World Bank report, Doing Business 2010, Zambia moves up in rank to 90 out of 183 economies.

As of October 2009 , the World Bank had invested around US$3.58 billion in Zambia to support development projects including mining, infrastructure and health. Since 1955, the World Bank has financed 250 projects in Zambia through concessional credits and grants. As of September 30, 2009, total net Bank commitments in Zambia were US$305 million for eight projects. Overall, key elements of the mission, principles, and values of the World Bank’s Country Assistance Strategy for Zambia include support to:

  • Macroeconomic and Expenditure Management
  • Institutional Capacity
  • Infrastructure Development
  • Human Capital Development
