The World Bank finances and supports a project at the request of the government. An appraisal of the project's feasibility and loan terms is followed by negotiations, board review, and signing. The loan becomes effective after it has been ratified by the government.

Analytical and Advisory Assistance

The World Bank's  shares its global knowledge and experiences with its client countries through analytical reports and studies, policy discussions, consultations, workshops and other activities.

Evaluations

The World Bank has a responsibility to the people of a borrowing country to monitor the progress of the projects it finances. Evaluations are conducted both by those working on projects and by independent parties.

Procurement
