Hanoi -Â A joint International Conference on Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) in Vietnam with the support of the World Bank was held on November 24, 2009.
The Government of Vietnam (GOV)Â has made infrastructure development a key priority for continued, balanced growth.
Based on the GOV’s request, the World Bank (WB) has worked extensively with the MPI, MOF and related government agencies over the last 2 years to establish a market-oriented PPP financing system for leveraging private capital in infrastructure, and help the GOV with implementation of pilot PPP projects.Â
The Conference marked the finalization of several key steps in the development of Vietnam’s PPP Program in infrastructure.Â
The Conference provided a forum for GOV to receive feedback on the Final Draft of the PPP Policy from international and domestic private sector representatives and donors. It was also an important milestone in the strategic GOV-WB partnership, and highlights the WB’s commitment to assist Vietnam establish a market-oriented infrastructure finance system.
