The 2nd China Development Marketplace (China DM) - an initiative of the World Bank to identify and fund innovative projects of Chinese NGOs – will bring more than 100 grassroots NGOs from all over China to Beijing next week.

The two-day event will showcase their promising solutions to help the poor and vulnerable, and address various development challenges facing China, contributing to the goal of building a more harmonious society.

For the 2nd China DM, Chinese NGOs have submitted almost 500 proposals. The 115 finalists selected from this pool by an independent team of experts deal with issues such as rural development, energy and environment, resources management, migrant workers, HIV/AIDS and health, women and children, traditional skills development of ethnic minority groups, disability, and post-earthquake recovery.

A jury will select some 40-45 winning projects, to be announced at a grand award ceremony. The winners will receive grant funding for the execution of their proposed projects.
