Faced with rapidly rising energy demand and an increasingly insufficient energy supply, much of the region is experiencing  shortfalls, resulting in widespread electricity outages with significant economic consequences. 

Improving the supply of electricity is vital for national and local governments and diversifying their traditional energy supplies by promoting additional investment in renewable energy (RE), energy efficiency (EE), energy infrastructure,  reform, trade, and privatization can have a dramatic effect on all areas of a countries economy.
