Hanoi, Vietnam
June 24, 2008
A consultation on the SFCCD took place in Hanoi, Vietnam on June 24, 2008, attended by 35 participants from various entities including government agencies, development partners, private sector, and civil societies, etc.
The SFCCD is being developed by the World Bank Group to help address development challenges in the context of climate change. Recognizing that climate change is a major development, investment, economic and social issue, which affects most sectors, the World Bank Group has embarked upon an initiative which will seek to examine climate change from a multi-sectoral and multi-faceted perspective, institution-wide.
The meeting generated a good and lively discussion on the Bank’s role in climate change assistance, new financing instruments, and priorities for Vietnam. The presentations on “Strategic Framework on Climate Change and Development and Strategy for Vietnam for the World Bank Group and Climate Financing Instrument” by Magda Lovei and “Climate-Resilient Development in Vietnam, Proposed World Bank Strategic Directions” by Douglas Graham are attached.
