A Consultation Workshop was held in Makati, Philippines on May 13-14, 2008 by the World Bank, International Strategy for Disaster Risk Reduction (ISDR), and CityNet to discuss the findings and recommendations from the draft final version of the Primer with city representatives and obtain their suggestions. The World Bank Country Director for the Philippines, the Regional Coordinator for ISDR, the Secretary General for CityNet (see CityNet's newsletter -pdf- featuring the Primer), and the Mayor of Makati City provided opening remarks. Over 50 participants from 15 cities across the region attended the Workshop and provided comments that were incorporated into the final version of the Primer. Break-out groups provided feedback on five themes—overall value added of the Primer; usability; applicability of case studies; usefulness of the "hot spot" analysis; and the links between climate change and disaster risk management in the Primer.
