Introduction

The World Bank and its Partners are offering an Inter-Regional Knowledge Sharing Series on Avian and Human Influenza (AHI). Utilizing the Global Development Learning Network, the seminars will provide a platform to share and exchange experiences, good practices, knowledge and lessons learned so far in fighting the Avian and Human Influenza from around the world. They will also better enable the Bank and its partners to strengthen their approach to capacity building on Avian and Human Influenza issues.

Each country has been asked to share their integrated planning experiences and lessons learned on AHI preparedness. Representatives from civil society, country governments, donor community, NGOs, and AHI focal points from the World Bank, UN, WHO, FAO, UNICEF and EC will take an active role in the development of the seminars.

All information, supporting materials and resources that are developed for use in these seminars will be made available. The GDLN facilities are open to various agencies for use and application in their efforts to share knowledge.
