Countries

The World Bank is working to support more than 20 countries in the East Asia and Pacific (EAP) region, which is home to nearly 2 billion people. The EAP Labor and Social Protection unit is present in most of these by means of a network of social protection focal points.

The characteristics of the social protection systems and the social protection needs greatly differ among countries in the region. However, it is possible to group them by their economic setting. The following map provides a snapshot of both the characteristics and needs for the three different kinds of economies we can find in the region: emerging, transition and low-income.

Please choose a country to see detailed information on social protection activities in each of these countries. These pages will also provide you with access to other social protection and country-specific resources.
