Participants in the Pacific Youth Festival held in Tahiti formulated 58 resolutions calling stakeholders to recognize youth as a key to development.

The Pacific Youth Charter was the main outcome of the first Pacific Youth Festival held in Tahiti in July 2006. The Charter calls for all stakeholders to recognize youth as a key to development and needs to consider their voices in decision making. It encourages young people to take an initiative in participating in community activities and to maintain good character with their peers.
The Charter has 58 resolutions that were formulated according to the 9 themes of the festival which are; Good Governance, Active Citizenship, Education & Training for All, Social & Professional Integration, Sustainable Development, Cultural Diversity, Health, Equality for All, and Peace promotion.
One youth delegate representing each participating country was involved in writing the Pacific Youth Charter. The Pacific Youth Charter recognizes that it does not reflect the full diversity of the festival but rather beings a series of dialogue towards a shared vision of all the delegates represented in the Pacific Youth Festival. It highlights the shared desire of young people and calls upon all stakeholders to recognize and support the contributions of young people.
Importantly, the Charter calls for stakeholders to consider young people in decision making (youth assemblies/parliaments) and also calls for youth people to take initiates in actively participating in their communities (youth volunteers).
