Rural Investment Climate Assessment (RICA)

http://www.worldbank.org/id/rica

Poverty in Indonesia remains largely rural - over 63 percent of the 36.1 million people living under the poverty line live in rural areas.

Almost half of rural incomes now come from non-farm activities.

A key aspect of poverty alleviation therefore is creating an environment that allows rural non-farm enterprises to grow.

  Report

This flagship report was published in June 2006 in conjunction with the Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs and Trade conference on the rural investment climate

  Survey

A large survey of the rural investment climate covering around 3000 households and 2500 enterprises in 6 rural districts has been completed

  Case Studies

These case studies exploring some of the challenges in the rural investment climate

  Conference

An event sharing the key findings of the RIC Survey and discussing a proposed package of reforms from the national government

WELCOME TO THE INDONESIA RICA WEBSITE

The World Bank has produced a Rural Investment Climate Assessment (RICA) in Indonesia. This is a major study of the key constraints to growth of the non-farm sector at the Kabupaten/District level.

RICA’s goal is to improve the understanding of the rural investment climate and its linkages to poverty reduction in  Indonesia and to guide policy initiatives in this area by both central and local governments.
