Indonesia: DKN Forum on climate change and REDD+

Location:   Mega Angrgrek Hotel and Convention Center, Jakarta
Begins:   Dec 08, 2011
Ends:   Dec 09, 2011

The DKN Forum on climate change and REDD+ is a consultation hosted by the DKN on behalf of the Ministry of Forestry and three multilateral development banks (World Bank, IFC, and ADB). During the Forum, DKN members across the organization’s five chambers – community groups, the private sector, government representatives, civil society and academics – will discuss the Forest Investment Program (FIP) and provide their inputs towards the creation of an Investment Plan for the FIP funds in Indonesia. The FIP funding is for transformational forest-sector investments that support REDD+ in sustainable forest management schemes and the governance of forest resources in Indonesia. The specific objectives of the consultation are to provide:

  • Clarification on the FIP objectives and its background globally and in Indonesia as well as to clarify the positions of the various stakeholders;
  • A venue for stakeholders to provide their inputs on the Preliminary Draft Investment Plan;
  • Information to strengthen understanding amongst stakeholders on efforts to promote the sustainability of FIP financing, as well as the ongoing socialization and consultation efforts of the Program.

Participants will be organized across the five DKN chambers (communities, private sector, government, CSOs, and academics). The DKN has previously hosted a Forum for Climate Change and REDD+ at the Fifth Indonesian Forestry Conference from 21-24 November 2011, where the FIP was discussed. Approximately 70 people are expected to participate in this event.
