The World Bank Tokyo Office is working with Japanese academia to achieve both a better dissemination of the World Bank research findings and project information and a greater participation of Japanese scholars in the Bank research projects and other knowledge exchange activities.

 

Recent Programs

 

·         Seminar Series "Global Development Challenges Facing Humanity" (Completed as of July 2005)

 

In April-July 2004, the World Bank undertook a pilot seminar series program on key development agendas, in collaboration with Graduate School of International Cooperation Studies at Kobe University and Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation at Hiroshima University, whereby the World Bank staff share the first-hand experiences. This was the first attempt by the Bank to offer an accredited course in collaboration with universities.

·         Joint Workshop on Human Security (Completed as of July 2005)

 

Between April and July 2004, the University of Tokyo (Graduate Program on Human Security), the Institute of Developing Economies, and the World Bank Tokyo Office jointly organized a workshop series on human security. You can read more about it in the ConceptPaper.
