The Role of Governments for Economic Development in the 21st Century

Begins:   Sep 16, 2011 13:00
Ends:   Feb 16, 2011 17:00

What relation between state and market is most favorable for economic development? What sort of public intervention is most effective to promote economic growth? Regarding this long-year topic, South Korea has deployed quite active economic diplomacy and Japan has promulgated ‘New Growth Strategy’ that includes system export infrastructure. The issues of FTA and TPP are also gathering public interest. All these matters are strongly connected with our relation with developing countries and ODA policy. This symposium will have debates on expected public intervention for development, and provide new approaches for Japan to grade up its global engagement.
