This workshop is part of a series of stakeholder workshops to be conducted in different international venues in August and September to ensure that the proposed project's objectives, potential benefits and impacts are transparent, debated, and well-understood, not only within Lao PDR but also more broadly within the international development community. These workshops are intended to provide information about the proposed project and to listen to the concerns and views of interested parties, with a view to providing feedback to the Government of Lao PDR and NTPC before they finalize the safeguards documents, and to inform the international financial institutions as they consider whether to support the proposed project. Ce séminaire fait partie d’une série d’ateliers qui se tiendront à l’échelle internationale aux mois d’août et de septembre afin de s’assurer que les objectifs du projet, les bénéfices et les impacts potentiels qui en découleraient, sont transparents, débattus et compris non seulement au Laos mais également par l’ensemble de la communauté internationale de développement. Ces ateliers ont pour but de mettre les informations sur le projet à la disposition du public et de prendre en compte l’opinion et les éventuels commentaires des personnes intéressées par ce projet. Elles seront transmises au gouvernement de la République démocratique populaire du Laos et à la Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) avant la finalisation de la phase de préparation du projet.
