NT2 Economic Reports

The World Bank has commissioned a number of studies as part of its due diligence on the economic aspects of the NT2 project. These include a study of the potential macroeconomic impact of the project on the Lao PDR economy, economic and commercial studies of the Thai and Laotian power markets and demand for the NT2 project, a study of the potential for energy conservation, demand side management and renewable energy generation in Thailand, and an economic analysis of the environmental and social impacts of NT2. The Bank's recent Country Economic Memorandum analyzes the potential sources of growth for the Laotian economy, including hydropower.

In addition, the Government of Lao PDR commissioned a Power System Development Plan in 2004. Together these studies form an integral part of the World Bank’s project economic analysis and have been taken into account in the Interim Project Economic Analysis that was posted to this website in August 2004 and the Project Economic Analysis posted in March 2005.
