WORKSHOP -  The Mekong River Commission Consultation on its Hydropower Program took place in Vientiane, September 25-27, 2008. The consultation brought together representatives from Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Vietnam, civil society, international donor organizations and private sector developers. Mr. James Bond, from the World Bank Group, gave a keynote address on the importance of sustainably managing the Mekong River's resources. Read commentary.

Ngam Ngum 5 WORKSHOP -  Proposed Nam Ngum 5 Project 
On August 1st, 2008, a workshop was held in Vientiane to inform stakeholders about The World Bank Group's Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agecy's (MIGA) plans to support projects in the Lao hydropower sector in general, and in particular to discuss Nam Ngum5's social and environmental impacts, the status of the project's preparation, and to receive stakeholders's inputs. Documents
