From October 26 to 28, the World Bank's Justice for the Poor (J4P) program convened an international workshop on state-supported community justice systems in Honiara, Solomon Islands.

The workshop brought together participants from Melanesia, East Asia and Africa who work in state-supported community justice systems, such as community courts, village courts, local courts, island courts, traditional courts, and customary courts.  The workshop also included those who play an oversight or policy role in relation to the courts, as wells as a number of civil society, donor and academic participants.

This website is designed to serve as a resource for those who attended the workshop and those who are interested in state-supported community justice systems.

The workshop was supported by the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands, the World Bank’s South-South Experience Exchange Facility, and the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID).

For more information or questions on the workshop please contact Peter Chapman.
