GET YOUR PROJECT IDEAS IN TO THE TINGIM YUT KOMPETISEN

Tingim Yut Kompetisen is a nationwide competition aimed at finding and funding good ideas that address the major challenges facing PNG’s young people in their communities. The competition is an initiative of the World Bank in partnership with Air Niugini, Airlines PNG, Bank South Pacific, Coral Sea Hotels, the Department of Community Development, Divine Word University, NASFUND, Pacific Enterprise Development Facility, Port Moresby Grammar School, UNDP and UNICEF.

To win, project ideas must be creative, innovative, cost-effective, and have direct impact on youth issues. Winning projects will be funded for a period of 12 months.

Theme:

All entries must address the theme: Youth and Community Working Together or Yut na Komuniti Wokbung.

Who can apply?

The competition is open to non-government organisations and other locally recognised civil society organisations, universities, schools and private sector groups that are directly in touch with youth aged between 15 and 25. Every group entering a submission must nominate a partnering organisation that can act as a contact and help oversee the project’s implementation.

How to apply?

Discuss your project idea with your community and send a two to three-page maximum proposal that answers all the questions below. If your project idea is short-listed, you will be asked to submit a more detailed proposal and budget.

Information you must provide:

  • Name of your group or organisation and a contact name, address, phone and fax number.
  • Name of your partnering organisation and a contact name, address, phone and fax number.
  • Title and location of your project.

Also, answer all these questions in three pages or less:

  1.  What is the issue or challenge that your project is addressing?
  2. What is your innovative idea and how does it benefit the young people in your community?
  3. Describe the activities/steps that your project will undertake to meet its objectives.
  4. What are the expected results of your project?
  5. Provide a rough budget for your project showing how the money will be spent over the next 12 months.
  6. How will your project continue after the competition award funds are finished?


Important dates:

 Close of submissions: 5 p.m., Friday, 3 February 2006
 Finalists announced: Late February 2006
 Winners announced: Saturday, 29 April 2006
