by Lim May-Ann Research Assistant, World Bank Singapore More than 20 youth participants gathered at the AWARE headquarters in Dover Crescent in a forum to discuss the five different transitions of a youth, as outlined in the World Development Report 2007 (www.worldbank.org/wdr2007), with a special focus on Singapore. The session, planned as a platform for like minded individuals to look at issues faced by youths in Singapore, also discussed the role of women in Singapore society, and it impacts and evolves during the five transitions of a youth’s life. The session started with a welcomaae by Ms. Tan Joo Hymn, AWARE President. An overview of the WDR was then presented by the Bank and its volunteers, after which participants broke up into groups to discuss the transitions in detail. Each transition was headed by the volunteer who presented it, and at the end of the discussion, participants were nominated to present their discussion summary to the entire group.
