Donors Meeting on East Timor, Brussels (December 5-6, 2000)

Donors convened 5-6 December in Brussels for meetings to review progress and challenges of the reconstruction and development in East Timor. In the main meeting, co-chaired by the World Bank and the United Nations Transitional Administration in East Timor (UNTAET), donors were set to discuss strategies for a successful transition to independence. The donor meeting was hosted by the European Commission with the Commissioner for External Relations Chris Patten giving the welcoming statement, and the Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Poul Nielson chairing the closing session.
