Timor-Leste and Development Partners’ Meeting

Hotel Timor, May 17-19, 2004

The Government of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the World Bank will jointly host the Timor-Leste and Development Partners’ Meeting from May 17 – 19 in Dili. The theme of the meeting is "Facing Challenges and Making Progress". Key topics of discussion will include "Fiscal Challenges and Opportunities" and"Progress and Planned Actions".

Introductory and opening statements will be made by Prime Minister, Mari Alkatiri; President Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão; Special Representative of the Secretary General (SRSG), Ambassador Kamalesh Sharma, and the Regional Vice President of the World Bank for East Asia and Pacific, Jemal-ud-din Kassum.

*Registered media are invited to attend the opening session on May 18, 2004 from 9 – 10:30am. Media are also invited to attend the meeting’s closing session at 11am on May 19. A press conference will follow the closing session at 11:30am.
