What is the Public Information Center (PIC) Program?
The World Bank’s Public Information Center provides information on its projects and activities, as well as publications and studies on development issues. In Vietnam, the PIC Program includes seven centers across the country and is part of a wider family of Public Information Centers (PICs) all over the world. .
As part of its information disclosure policy, the Bank is striving for effective and proactive dissemination of publications and development-related information to enhance public understanding of the Bank’s work, promote more informed participation in program and project design, and to increase country ownership of programs and projects for better development results.

How can we access that information?
Everyone is welcome to visit and use our PIC. While materials and publications cannot be taken outside of the building, photocopy services are available and most things can be printed from our website. Also, staff are available to assist the public in searching our information resources. A vital activity of the Vietnam program is the translation of key World Bank documents and relevant publications on development issues from English to Vietnamese. Publications translated by the World Bank in Vietnam are made freely available on the internet, sold in print at affordable prices, and made available for consultation in the Public Information Centers. There are some free publications, as well as publications in Thai, Khmer and Lao languages. PIC is staffed by a Public Information Assistant who can help you with all your research and information needs.
What reports, documents and services are available?
The PIC Program provides information related to World Bank-supported projects in the country. Other reports and publications available include: Â Project Information Documents(PIDs). These are documents that give brief summaries of evolving projects. These are updated and expanded as the project preparation proceeds
 Project Appraisal Documents(PADs). These contain descriptions of a project and the plan for its implementation, including procurement procedures. These are made available to the public after presentation to the Board.
 Economic Sector Reports. These include macroeconomic analysis of the economy, analyses of major economic sectors and other reports on specified issues, such as poverty assessment, etc. Environmental Assessments (EAs). EAs are detailed studies required for projects likely to have significant impact on the environment. Such studies are available before the final appraisal of the viability of the project.
Loan (or Development Credit) Agreements. These are records of loan amounts and terms and conditions on which the loan is made. It also records the borrower's general commitment to the project objectives. It is made available to the public after the loan agreement is signed and declared effective or ready for disbursement.
 Bidding and consultant documents. These provide guidelines for borrowers and their implementing agencies in the procurement of goods, works and consulting services.
 UN Development Business. A United Nations publication that publishes general procurement notices for goods, works, and services to be procured through international competitive bidding for each Bank-financed project.
Other services: Recent World Bank publications in print, including selected titles published in the United States and all titles published in Vietnam. Print copies of all public documents for World Bank projects in Vietnam. Development-related publications from numerous, well-know academic publishers and development institutions. Online access to World Bank project documents, publications, and reports for all countries. Free access to the Internet for development-related research. Special collection of CD-ROMs and DVDs on development issues. Knowledge-sharing activities such as forums, presentations and book launches. Reference service by skilled librarians.
