The National Conference „Virtual Environment and Educational Partnership”, part of the Knowledge Economy Project, is taking place between November 12-14, in Poiana Brasov

Organized by the Project Management Unit of the Knowledge Economy Project, with support from the Ministry of Education and Research and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Conference gathers representatives of the 255 coordinating schools which are active in the KE project and other stakeholders in order to share experiences, promote best practices and communicate the educational objectives. The participants have the opportunity to exchange ideas and knowledge related to the use of ICT in education. The seminar also aims at encouraging future partnerships for the schools and further exchange of experience and networking activities.

The conference aims at developing direct professional relationships, networks, in order to support the ITC implementation in school and is an opportunity to facilitate contacts between schools and the educational practice community. It is also seen as a starting point to initiate dissemination actions targeted to other rural and small urban schools, that were not included in the Project.

The Knowledge Economy Project, cofinanced by the Government of Romania and the World Bank (total cost is 70 million dollars, of which 60 million dollars is the World Bank loan), is an innovative project supported by the World Bank, the first of its kind in Romania, also the first of its kind approved by the World Bank. The Knowledge Economy Project will accelerate the participation of knowledge disadvantaged communities within the knowledge-based society and economy in Romania. To this end, the Project will enable the Government to implement the National Strategy for the New Economy and Implementation of the Information Society, as well as the European Union (EU) programs related to the information society for all.
