Indermit Gill
Indermit Gill is the chief economist of the Europe and Central Asia Region of the World Bank. Since joining the World Bank in 1993, he has worked in both the Latin America and East Asia regional offices. He was the director of the 2009 World Development Report, Reshaping Economic Geography and the principal author of Keeping the Promise of Social Security in Latin America and An East Asian Renaissance. Mr. Gill has an M.A. in Economics from the Delhi School of Economics and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago.
Martin Raiser
Martin Raiser, a German national, is Country Director of the World Bank for Turkey based in Ankara. He was previously the Country Director for Ukraine, Belarus and Moldova based in Kyiv and prior to that was Country Manager and head of office in Uzbekistan. Mr. Raiser was also the Director for Country Strategy and Analysis at the EBRD where he served as an editor of the annual Transition Report. Mr. Raiser holds a PhD in Economics from Kiel University, Germany, and an MSc. in Development Economics from the London School of Economics. He has published widely in academic journals on topics related to international economics, the micro-foundations of growth and the problems of economies in transition.
