Moving forward with Governance and Anticorruption Agenda

The World Bank Group’s Governance and Anticorruption (GAC) Strategy was approved by the Board of Executive Directors in March 2007 after an extensive worldwide consultation with more than 3,200 stakeholders in 49 countries, including consultations here in Albania.

draft Implementation Plan for the Strategy has now been prepared and is circulated for review and feedback from stakeholders across the world.  The document outlines the immediate steps the World Bank Group can take at the project, country and global levels in partnership with governments and other stakeholders, and the corresponding internal actions that are required.

The World Bank Office in Tirana is seeking feedback on the Implementation Plan from Government officials, Members of Parliament, representatives of private sector and civil society, media and donor community in Albania. We invite you to provide your feedback on the Implementation Plan. On the website you will find the document and a set of questions on which feedback is sought.  The feedback sought is specifically focused on the Implementation Plan, not on the Strategy, which as noted above has already been approved by the World Bank’s Board of Executive Directors.

Here is the Albanian version  of the draft Implementation Plan.

The deadline for receipt of feedback has been set at September 20, 2007.   Inputs received by this time will inform a revised implementation plan that will be discussed by the Board in October, before the World Bank’s Annual Meetings.
